How to Get Rid of Neck Fats Fast, Without Surgery, Exercises and Liposuction

The excessive fat around your neck accumulating on the chin and the jaw sides leading to a “turkey-like” neck is caused by various factors. Similar to other fats in the body, neck fat is caused by obesity or being overweight.

Also, the neck fat may be caused by certain medical conditions such as Cushing disease, water retention, and aging. Genetics can play a part in the development of neck fat. The genetic makeup of the jawline along with the muscle structure can facilitate the accumulation of fat around the neck.

The presence of neck fat can be frustrating, especially if you want that healthy, contour look. Neck fat can also be a strong indicator of a poor lifestyle and a heightened risk of cardiovascular conditions. However, don’t get anxious, there are various treatment approaches, and lifestyle changes that can help you lose that neck fat fast.

Removal or how to get rid of neck fat

Getting rid of fat on the neck can be done using surgical and non-surgical procedures. Surgical procedures for reducing neck fat include liposuction, facelift, and neck lift. Neck liposuction is beneficial particularly to those who have tried to lose the neck fat through exercise and have been unable to do so. It involves the surgical removal of the fat beneath the neck. The procedure takes a short time to recover (3-8 days). If you are not apt for neck liposuction, you can go for other surgical procedures such as neck lift surgery, chin implant, and platysmaplasty

Aside from the regular liposuction, there is the chin laser liposuction. Both can be used successfully. The only benefit with laser lipo is that it tightens the skin better and heals faster.

Neck liposuction costs range from $1000-2500 plus MD Anesthesia related costs. However, it is advisable to consult with surgeons who have their own accredited practice.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of a neck lift surgery is $4,528 without including other costs such as the operating room expenses.

Although costs vary depending on the surgeon, neck procedures generally range from $3000 to $8000.

Removal without surgery

There are those of us who squirm at the thought of going through surgery. In that case, you can opt for nonsurgical neck fat removal procedures that have only recently been FDA approved. These procedures include Kybella. The technique involves injecting deoxycholic acid which facilitates the breakdown of neck fat in the body. The acid destroys the fat cells thereby getting rid of the neck fat. Kybella requires multiple injections that may take up to five treatments each month, with as many as 50 injections per treatment.

Coolsculpting is another recent FDA approved procedure. This non-invasive procedure is a fat-freezing treatment. Sometime back, the scientist at Harvard discovered that children who had the habit of indulging in Popsicle were freezing the fat in the cheeks leading to dimples. The discovery that ice could target the fat cells without damaging the skin tissue was the founding principle behind Cryolipolysis, the evidence-based science behind coolsculpting. The average price for the procedure is $750 to $2500. Other non-invasive procedures for getting that rejuvenated neck include ultherapy (ultrasound), ThermiTight, and Thermage.

There are exercises you can take up to reduce neck fat. These exercises include:

  1. The Chin Lift: The chin lift works on the neck muscles by stretching and toning them. This technique involves standing or sitting with your spine straight, tilting the head back until you face the ceiling. During the exercise, your lips should be in a puckered position for about five seconds, then released.
  2. Neck fat rolls: Neck rolls are effective as they work on the sternocleidomastoid and platysma muscles on the neck. This exercise is also good for your shoulders. It can be performed by, standing or sitting upright, breathe in slowly while turning your head on one side towards your shoulder. Next, roll your head downwards towards your chest as you slowly exhale. Inhale again as you gently lift your head up and direct your chin towards the other shoulder. Repeat this technique for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Jaw Release Exercise: This exercise tones the face and chin muscles. You can perform this exercise by moving your jaw as if you are chewing something while at the same time inhaling and exhaling slowly. Next, open your mouth wide as you exhale. Place the tip of the tongue gently against your lower teeth.
  4. Platysma exercise: The platysma is another name for the sternocleidomastoid muscle located on the chest, neck, and facial area. This exercise helps in reducing the chin and neck fat. You perform this exercise by sitting or standing upright, depress the corners of the mouth downwards and upwards, to create contractions at the neck. Repeat the technique for about five to ten times.
